I'm sitting in the parking lot of central high school overlooking God's awesome Lake Superior. I am so amazed that he created all this beauty by the very Word of his power. I'm drinking from the river of God's delights.
Several weeks ago I was graciously and lovingly corrected by one of my best friends. I have been going through what some might call a "valley of the shadow of death" for the last 2 years or so. He asked me how my time with the Lord has been going lately. I told him I'd been keeping up with my daily time in the word of God. He chuckled and reminded me there is a lot more involved in a time with the Lord than merely reading the Bible. Then he took me to psalm 36:5-8 which says, " Your loving kindness oh Lord extends to the heavens, your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; your judgements are like a great deep. Oh Lord, you preserve man and beast. How precious is your loving kindness, oh God! And the children of men take refuge in the shadow of your wings. They drink there fill of the abundance of your house; And you give them to drink of the river of your delights."
All my problems have not been solved by a long shot. My physical condition seems to be deteriorating rather than getting better, but in spite of all that God lets me drink from the river of His delights. It's so amazing how he uses times like these to draw us even closer to himself.
So I want to encourage you; don't just say prayers and read the bible. You might wanna try getting down on your knees in the presence of this holy God and taking a real long drink from the river of his delights. I think you'll like it. Have a great day!
Thanks Karl.
